About Geoff
My name is Geoffrey L. Wright and I live in Anchorage, Alaska. I’m 39 years old and I have three kids — Duncan (11), Addy (8) and Oliver (4). I’m lucky to be married to my wife Cathy and I’m still trying to figure out why she’s put up with me for so many years. In order to pay the rent I own a nifty software development company with long-time friends Andy Rogers and Craig Fisher. Given the massive combined time commitment of company ownership and dadhood I should probably not have any hobbies. But I’m a charter member of Over Committers Anonymous (sort of like a less results-oriented version of Over Achievers Anonymous), so I also do all of the following:
- Help out at my kids’ school
- Teach sailing classes and race sailboats at the Alaska Sailing Club
- Race radio-controlled model sailboats
- Kill, process and eat tasty indigenous Alaska fauna including moose, caribou, snowshoe hare, grouse, ptarmigan, salmon, halibut and pike
- Play old-time music on my banjo
- Play disc golf
- Play role-playing games (pen ‘n paper, not online)
- Read science fiction novels
- Raise backyard poultry
- Cross country ski
- Host regular social and culinary events for friends and family
- Collect music of all kinds
- Take pictures
- Commute to work on my bike
